Code of Conduct for
Contributors
Purpose
This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for all individuals representing or contributing to Morph Festival — including staff, contractors, volunteers, musicians, artists, workshop facilitators, healers, vendors, and other collaborators.
It ensures that everyone upholds Morph Festival’s core values of integrity, respect, inclusion, and care in every interaction and decision.
This Code forms part of your agreement with Morph Festival Ltd and applies to all spaces, both physical and digital, associated with the event.
1. Respect & Inclusion

Treat all patrons, artists, colleagues, and children with dignity and kindness.

Celebrate diversity and create an inclusive, family-friendly environment.

Respect cultural differences and uphold the mana of the land and community.
-
Honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi and respect tangata whenua and local tikanga.
-
Speak and act with awareness, empathy, and respect for others’ lived experiences.
2. Safety & Wellbeing
-
Prioritise the physical and emotional safety of everyone onsite.
-
Take extra care with children, vulnerable patrons, and those who choose not to drink alcohol.
-
Never work or perform under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
-
Model calm, grounded, and responsible behaviour at all times.
-
Immediately report any incidents, unsafe behaviour, or hazards to the Duty Manager or security.

Ensure all activities, workshops, and performances are conducted safely, with proper consent and supervision.
3. Boundaries & Behaviour

Intrusive, sleazy, harassing, or predatory behaviour will not be tolerated.

Do not engage in physical, verbal, or sexual harassment, or any behaviour that makes others feel unsafe or uncomfortable.

Maintain clear and professional boundaries with patrons, artists, and colleagues.
-
Do not misuse your position for personal gain, special treatment, or access to restricted areas.
-
Consent is essential — always ensure that physical, emotional, and creative boundaries are respected.

Respect personal space, privacy, and cultural sensitivities at all times.
4. Professional Conduct

Follow all directions from management, supervisors, security, and the Duty Manager.

Be punctual, reliable, and carry out your role or performance to the best of your ability.
-
Wear your wristband, accreditation, or crew identification at all times while on duty or performing.

Communicate respectfully — no aggressive, disrespectful, or discriminatory language or behaviour.
-
Treat your role or contribution as part of a collective effort to create a safe, inspiring, and transformative experience.

Represent Morph Festival professionally both onsite and online.
5. Confidentiality & Intellectual Property

Protect the privacy of patrons, artists, and fellow contributors.
-
Do not share personal details, backstage access, or sensitive operational information.
-
Respect the intellectual property, creative content, and sacred or cultural practices shared during the festival.
-
Do not reproduce or distribute photos, videos, or content from backstage, healing spaces, or workshops without explicit permission.
6. Conflict Management

Approach conflicts with calmness, patience, and empathy.
-
Use de-escalation strategies before considering enforcement or removal.
-
Report incidents immediately to management, security, or the Duty Manager.
-
Allow space for resolution, listening, and accountability rather than confrontation.
-
Do not take matters into your own hands unless safety requires immediate intervention.
7. Sustainability & Community Care
-
Respect the festival grounds and leave all spaces clean and tidy.
-
Avoid unnecessary waste — use recycling and compost systems provided.
-
Support each other as a team — step in to help when others are under pressure.
-
Be mindful of noise, light, and environmental impact.
-
Act as a role model for the wellness, creativity, and community values Morph Festival stands for.
8. Breaches & Consequences
Any breach of this Code of Conduct may result in one or more of the following actions, at the discretion of Morph Festival Ltd:

A formal warning,

Immediate removal from the festival site and termination of participation,

Forfeiture of any fees, compensation, or refunds, and/or
-
Escalation to Event Management, Council, or Police where appropriate.
Morph Festival Ltd reserves the right to take immediate action, without prior warning, if behaviour is deemed unsafe, inappropriate, or inconsistent with the festival’s values.
9. Agreement & Enforcement
By indicating agreement (ticking “Yes” or “I Agree”) on your application form, you acknowledge that:

You have read, understood, and agree to comply with this Code of Conduct.

This acknowledgment has the same legal effect as a handwritten signature.

Your name and contact details provided in the application form identify you as the person agreeing to this Code.

You understand that any breach may result in your immediate removal from the festival, termination of your participation, and forfeiture of any fees or refunds.

Morph Festival Ltd may, at its sole discretion, determine what constitutes a breach and take appropriate action.

This Code operates alongside any other agreements or policies you have with Morph Festival Ltd and is governed by New Zealand law.
